The two main areas of hormonal change are in fetal development and puberty. Geschwind and behan thought that a testosterone bath in fetal development pruned the left hemisphere and left the spatial/music right hemisphere as superior. Men typically have 10x the amount of testosterone as women, but levels among men varies greatly especially across cultures, and some women have levels higher than men. On recent research, studies have suggested some correlations between levels of testosterone and body mass, baldness, self-confidence, and even the ability and willingness to smile. If you increase the level of testosterone in males or rats they become more aggressive but this is perhaps leaps in logic. Other studies suggest that it exacerbates aggression that is already there. A finnish study found no differences in testosterone between violent and non-violent men. Another ucla study found that men with lower testosterone were more angry and irritable.
