SOC 3312 Lecture Notes - Lecture 7: Patricia Hill Collins, Brandeis University, Sexual Norm
Document Summary
Patricia and judith are still contributing to the discussion, they are still alive: this is the first time this semester we are mentioning women, the lack of women spoken about in this class is troubling. We should have mentioned it at least once or twice: the identity of the persons we are mentioning in relation to the topic we are dealing with. Women are dealing with issues related to women. Gender theories, feminist theories are of course a field of research in which we are discussing issues concerning women. It tells us the relevance of this statement made by a french historian known as le goff as he brought into publishing in the 80s, indicated that every science is autobiographical. There is a strong relation between what we study and our own experiences. We are interested in what is close to us, in many cases what we have went through or our current reality.
