Protestant sect, the plymouth brethren, society dominated by christianity. Crowley referred to himself as beast 666 & his priestesses as scarlet women & sometimes goddess as. Crowley was also influenced by rabelais, nietzsche, & freud when thinking about religion & philosophy of thelema. Gets involved with h. o. g. d for 3 yrs & got kicked out of the h. o. g. d w/ samuel macgregor-mathers. Decide to take over golden dawn but fail. Aleister goes to o. t. o & gets in/becomes the head of o. t. o; starts publishing things from golden dawn.
