Document Summary
Human beings imagine the world in three levels: ---this is the western perception of the world. The heavens are the highest level and are located somewhere above the clouds. Transcendent: the heaven is located in a transcendent place, in a place beyond what we know. Immanent: [in the world] he sees all and must be immanent. ---not everyone"s idea of god"s location or whereabouts is the same, depends on branch of christianity or ideas surrounding religion. Church: large religious institution, overarching body, with levels of organization. Cult: small religious community, usually following a single charismatic leader. In the times of jesus, when he was spreading the word, they were considered a cult. Heresy: believing, practicing, living or doing anything contrary to the teachings of any christian institution. Apocalyptic: people that believe the world is ending, or the savior is coming back.
