Will anything be left in place (in situ) for photography and mapping: e. g. deadfall. Clear from perimeter tape to grid 1st. Remove leaf litter systematically: l to r, front to back, outer to inner grid units. Backfill halo = remnant of dirt where fill from hole was placed: outline with coloured string, use different colour to outline grave. Time to gear up for excavation tyvek. Latex gloves (double & tape to tyvek: to prevent dirt/biohazard from getting in. Extra hot in suits: take breaks, remove hoods. Bisect grave and backfill halo along long axis: use flagging tape (not yellow)
