Indigenous status came with benefits : partial funding from funai, built new road improving access to community, construction of elementary school, new electric lines etc. Being considered indian had pejorative connotation in brazil. Fieldwork is an important method by which anthropologists gather information to answer their research questions. Upon regular interaction with a group of people , anthropologists record their observations and perceptions adjusting the focus of their research. They spend few months and sometimes even few years among the people completing their research study.
