Overview: communication, non human primate language, the biological basis of language, the evolution of language. Communication: behaviour that affects the behaviour of others by the transmission of information, universal among animals, adaptive significance. To understand communication it involves the sending of messages (encoding) a way of acting from a distance. Reduces aggression within the group manner of ordering the universe. The ability to communicate is crucial and capacity to communicate is inherited. Unintentional communication: body posture, raised body hair, body odour, blushing.
