Document Summary

Energy of radiation is stored in the wood. Stored energy is released with the wood is burned. Energy of work is stored as gravitational potential energy. Stored energy is released and become energy of motion (kinetic energy) when the object drops down. Total energy (sum of all forms) is another conserved quantity. Ex: total energy = kinetic energy + stored potential energy. Energy shifts back and forth between the various form, kinetic energy potential energy, but the total remains constant. Ex: moon gets the same solar heating as earth, but its gravity is too weak to hold an atmosphere. Meteorites = material of the solar system that hits earth and is recovered. Cosmic rays = very high energy subatomic particles from the sun and deep space. All meteorites + moon rocks + cosmic rays give us very limited information.
