Document Summary

Science does not study the world as if it was in a vacuum; it studies the world as it is and all of the things that influence the world and society. Jane goodall (1934- ): pioneered research on chimps. Birute galdikas (1946 - ): pioneered research on orangutans. Dian fossey (1932 1985): pioneered research on mountain gorillas. The idea of change over time was not new. Erasmus darwin (1731 1802): said that organisms adapt to change in their environment (change through time) Jean-baptiste de lamarck (1744 1892): recognized that organisms might adapt to their environment, but is remembered for his incorrect hypotheses. Charles darwin (1809 1882): proposed a hypothesis for change through time, but also proposed a mechanism for how organisms change through time. Alfred russel wallace (1823 1913): proposed a hypothesis for change through time, but also proposed a mechanism for how organisms change through time. Lamarck hypothesized about the mechanism that causes diversity.
