When talking about whales we have to look at vertebrates on land moving back to. Start out with vertebrates that are aquatic then moving onto land water. Because we are vertebrates just like the fish. Can look at certain bones and see if they are indicative of what taxa the species belong to. In dogs only the upper part has the structure, bottom attaches to other bones. Pig and deer are both even toed two pulley systems on top and bottom. Indohyus is an artiodactyl (refer back to -> recent data shows cetaceans related to artiodactyls)
