Document Summary

Stress is any physical stressor temperature, salinity, the amount of light in a water column, being scared, etc. Crh is the key to release more hormones from the anterior pituitary. When we activate the anterior pituritary, acth, prolactin, and vasopressin are released which increased activity of the adrenal gland (adrenal cortex) to further release more hormones cortisol (glucocorticoids) When an animal is under stress, there is increase of glucose levels because glycogen is broken down: not effectively using the glucose so you start using other reserves from the body. Fats and proteins are broken down to fatty acids and amino acids. When there is no rainfall, female african elephants are stressed: theres no water supply, lower food supply become stresses (causes high corticoid levels in their systems) Increased blood glucose levels would decrease the release of prolactin, vasopressin, and glucocorticoids. Attributes of the physical environment affect the reproduction of animals. The great barrier reef is a great example.
