The computer metaphor of the mind: the mind is like a computer (but really our brain is much more advanced than a computer). Information processing: cognitive psychology sees the individual as a processor of info. The information model of the cognitive process: reaction time used to measure the speed of the cognitive process how long does it take the brain to process things. Model of cognitive processes: stage 1 encoding. Encoding the brain transfers the input into neurons that the brain interprets: stage 2 comparison. The sensory information is compared to memories. Ears hear sound and triggers the neurons that fire in your head (encoding) you must then use this info to compare to into stored in your brain (compare to other experiences).
