Document Summary

Negative feedback control a short loop is between the endocrine gland and the tissue if the endocrine gland is also influencing another endocrine gland before the one of interest, it"s a long loop. Many cells respond to multiple hormones simultaneously, and when two hormones act on a cell at the same time they can have: antagonistic (opposing) effects synergistic effects permissive effects integrative effects. Permissive effects fist hormone is needed for the second hormone to have its effect. Integrative effects hormones have different but complementary effects in specific cells or tissues. Pituitary gland located beneath the hypothalamus and extends from it. Master gland secretes 9 hormones that control other glands comprised of 3 major lobes: anterior lobe, intermediate lobe (considered part of the anterior lobe) and the posterior lobe. 2 distinct parts anterior pituitary (adenohypophysis) posterior pituitary (neurohypophysis) Both parts controlled by neurosecretory cells of the hypothalamus (part of the brain)
