Document Summary

A group of axons are encircled by membrane. The bundle of nerves sends a signal to the periphery of the body. Bundle of branches of nerves send the signal to the spinal cord. Information being sent in travels via sensory or afferent neurons. Cns sends signals out via efferent or motor neurons. We expect larger organisms to have a larger brain mass. Certain organisms have the same relationship, but the brain size increase for the different organisms is different. A mammal and amphibian can have the same body mass, but the brain mass of the mammal will be greater than that of the amphibian. We tend to have more folding to increase sa in the brain. Structures in the brain are also important in determining how smart an organism is. Depends on the volume of the structures and where they are placed. The have multiple large ganglia that work as the cns in invertebrates.
