How an animal find their way b/w separate resources without getting lost small movements, to continental migrations- small animals, how it moves how small an animal is, how slowly it moves ex. Wasps flying around this room sensory and cognitive systems- use of polarized light, hippocampus as cognitive orientation and navigating. Orientation- one"s position and direction in space. Navigation- one way to another familiar position. Egocentric vs. allocentric: ego- path integration- represents the location of objects in space relative to the body axes of the self, allo- the location of one object is defined relative to the location of other objects ex. Allocentric- mind eyes map, since you can create it, you do have a cognitive map. You are familiar with the places around mississauga, more specifically your neighbourhoods, where you are from. Distance and direction b/w locations and can be used to make shortcuts to plan new routes.
