Document Summary
Multidisciplinary discipline: human factors and ergonomics. Approaches emerging from hci: usability engineering (usability) Interaction design: user experience from usability, ubiquitous computing, computer supported cooperative work (cscw) Human factors and ergonomics: from psychology. Technological perspective: history of input and output devices, different stages of interfaces development. Political perspective: movement of ideas between labs and effect of funding agencies. Economical perspective: development of user interfaceas a response to the growth of the pc industry. History of interaction - human experience of computing. Electrical phase: computers only had one purpose one design. Textual phase: how we interact with computer became something we understand for example, keyboard, set of command. Next phase: tangible and social computing (dourish, networked appliances and multimodal ubiquitous computing. Social commuting and ubiquitous: technology that moves with us, when we interact phone part of me, become one. Information theory: sender receiver modal, always a communication between two parties, human can control machine interaction goes both ways.
