A coherent set of social values, beliefs and meanings; the values, beliefs and meanings of the dominant class. Sacred, immediate, highly skilled, mnemonic devices, dialogic, conservative, situational, homeostatic. Homeostatic: in the biological sense our body/system is self regulated. A coded system of visible marks whereby a writer could determine the exact words that the reader would generate from the text. If you cant talk about it in a conversation, then you don"t know it. Oral history was more social, reading is usually done on your own. Started to think of yourself as an individual and reflect on the ways that you thought of yourself. i. e. diary. Able to control at a distance because these are lightweight materials and others before were rocks, not easily portable. With these you start to see the development of books.
