2 senses of argument: a disagreement, dispute, or verbal confrontation, a group of propositions in which some. Propositions: is a sentence that makes a claim or makes an assertion that is or is not the case. Non-propositions: they don"t make a claim on a case, don"t admit a true or false. In order to have an argument the propositions have to have certain relationship with each other, some provide logical support for other propositions. Conclusion: the proposition(s) for which an argument aims to provide support. Premises: the propositions that are intended to provide support for the conclusion. Conclusion doesn"t have to be at the end of the argument, it can be at beginning, middle, or end. Implied conclusion: tonight im either going to go the gym or eat a whole pizza. And lets be honest, im not going to the gym. Implied premise: he"s not a good candidate for the job.
