The pressure of the earth near the inner core keeps the layer solid as opposed to liquid like where the outer core is. Crust: 0. 5% of volume, 7-70 km thick. Mantle: 67% of volume, 2886 km thick. Outer core: 30. 8% of volume, 2255 km thick. Inner core: 1. 7% of volume, 1216 km thick.
