The tulips are interwoven in the willow. Woven-ness suggests different types of craft practises. Modern art must be committed to modernity . Impressionists did not have much luck in regards to the salon. Had to find other ways to exhibit their work. Critic dubbed the impressionists based on this painting. Meant to be derogatory (half-assed) but the name stuck. Translated what they saw into their own visual representations.
