Deparing from interview schedule is usually discouraged-afects reliability and validity. Follow the conversaion wherever it goes, focusing on intersecing points. Order of quesions and follow-up quesions are variable. Don"t focus on other devices such as your phone. Don"t let the interviewer repeat a quesions. Pay atenion to posture (formal posture, eye contact) When not able to use recorders- as soon as the interview is open write down as much as you can remember- rewrite the interview as fully as possible (memory developing skill) Indirect (what do most people think about y?) Structuring (move on to a new topic and talk about x) Interpreing quesions (idea of summarizing or restaing what the interviewee said) Group interview in which the interviewees can speak to and interact with one another. Useful for illustraing how meaning is jointly constructed. Moderator was not engaged in the conversaion. Did not involve follow-up quesions in the discussion. Moderator asked the focus group to introduce themselves.
