Rates can be used as excellent indicators. High br and hdr = less developed country does not have e good capacity for growth. Tells us about a populations capacity for growth. Cbr is just one measure of fertility. It is called crude birth rate because it looks at the total population. High dependency ratio = cbr would be low. Women"s educational achievement: more education= less children. Tfr: total fertility rate: average number of children a woman will have throughout the years that demographers have identified as her childbearing years, approx. ages 15 through 49. Tfr is a predictive whereas as cbr is measurable. Crude death rate: number of deaths in one year per 1000 people in a population. 3 measures: cdr, infant mortality, child mortality. To see if a population is growing . Infant mortality rate: annual number of deaths of infants under 1 year of age per 1000 live births".
