Women"s health is what we commonly think about overlooking a lot of men"s health needs, and trans people. Came from north american as a western way of thinking about gender. Not just about contrast between male and female is a spectrum, and it changes. Not thinking about grey between male and female. Not looking at diversity within gender categories. The roles we fulfill are often gendered, and are reproduced in everyday life. Pairing of one against the other dichotomy. Idea that we can define people by certain characteristics and properties. Moving to a new way of thinking about things. Dangers of essentialist thinking can discriminate against those who don"t fit in typical gender roles, ignore the needs of segment of population. Reinforces gender stereotypes and by doing that were leaving out portion of population.
