Mu`amalat & 3. Al-imama • Baghdad stood for religious corruptions (historically) • Bhagdad [city of Peace- House of Wisdom] • Bhagdad seen as centre of Islamic learning • Abbasid caliphate founded in Dasmascus 747 • Caliph Mansur builds new capital on the Tigris • A world centre of learning and wealth by 800 • Centre of poetry, music, and Baroque-style pageantry • It was under the abbasids that the islamic civilization experienced it’s golden stage
