Diefenbaker didn"t like this, but norad agreement did embarrassment again. Military leaders ignored him & went on alert anyway: diefenbaker lost next election o, diefenbaker"s leadership defined by us relations: us paranoia got him elected, but made him lose. Liberals back in power w/ lester pearson he re-established good relations w/ us. Wwii-late 60s: welfare state established nothing much has been done since (basically the same)
