Document Summary
Cultural history (as in popular history- the way that people actually live) Whole new ways of living that began in this period which seemed to be connected to affluence. Some pre-dated the second world war things that came about after ww2 actually had their of the time genesis before. Along with this came about a new way of life. People that lived in these houses were not trying to create new lifestyle they just wanted a comfortable life (but happened on large scale) = mass movement. Extreme focus on children and domesticity part of baby boom phenomenon. About finding a house that would be good for the baby, around schools good for the baby everything revolved around this idea (wasn"t like this before) Few single people (could not afford this kind of house) Few renters zoning restrictions prevented it in most places. Affluent lifestyle: came from affluence of the era (i. e. aspired to have each child have own room)
