Canada is considered a part of north america; it is a part of the west. It wasn"t unil the 19th century, democracy started to spread. There were aboriginals living in lain america were killed by the europeans. 1989- all of lain america was democraic. (a big part of the democraic wave. ) the catholic church has a strong inluence on this part of the country. When the catholic church said they were in favour of democraic systems, it put a lot of pressure on lain. No rule of law, similar to hybrid regimes. Mixed record: since the year 2000 there has been a democraic latline. Democracy remains weak in these countries because they"re democracies but not liberal. For the last 15 years the quality of democracy in lain america has swayed. democracy. Ater the earthquake in haii it became a failed state. Lain america has a major probem in crime, drugs, and corrupion and bribery become the norm.
