If god exists than god is omnipotent and perfectly good: an omnipotent being is able to eliminate all pointless evils, a perfectly good being would eliminate all pointless evils, pointless evils exist, therefore, god does not exist. Three philosophical responses: cannot appreciate the good without the evil. Responses: doesn"t explain why there is so much evil: why do some experience more evil then others, non-pointless evils, no need for evil at all to appreciate good, evil is needed for the development of virtue.
