Secondary qualities: powers in objects to produce ideas in us in virtue of the primary qualities of the particles in the objects. If you divide something colour, flavour, sound, smell, hard and soft. Tertiary qualities: powers in things to produce effects in other bodies. Secondary quality ideas do not resemble their causes.
