Last lecture: private property emerges fairly easily from the freedom in the state of nature. Is created to protect: life, liberty and property that is the end of government, very limited and this is what locke is after: a limited government: how government comes about state of nature to political society. We will also consider the limits to government and what should happen when government exceeds those limits: this is a document that is addressing a particular problem, defining and establishing rightful political power, paternal and political power. This shows that the authority given to government is given by the community to preserve ones liberty. The rights are the same: political power is the right derived from the original. Individuals create this to protect their intrests and rights (life liberty and property) hobbes says we don"t have that in the state of nature, locke disagrees: locke follows hobbes that the commonwealth (society) .
