Biophysical model holds that physical illness is caused by a complex interaction of biological, psychological, and sociocultural factors. Growing recognition that psychological factors influence physical health eventually lead to the emergence of health psychology. Health psychology is concerned with how psychological factors relate to the promotion and maintenance of health and with the causation, prevention and treatment of illness. Studies conducted in the aftermath of natural disasters ( tornadoes, earthquakes, tsunamis) typically find elevated rates of psychological problems and physical illnesses in places affected by these disasters. Only a small part of what constitutes stress. Every day problems ( waiting in line, car troubles etc) and the minor nuisances of life are also very stressful. A major stressful event can trigger various minor stressors.
