Document Summary
Everything about us is both nature and nurture (our genes and environment) Learning is adaptive to help us survive to procreate to perform. Requires a reflexive response: a response that is unconditioned. Unconditioned: we were born with it, its natural. Reflex: something that happens without us being able to control it. Neutral stimulus something thing that is conditioned acquisition. E. g you use to ring the bell then bring the meat. Now all you need to ring the bell without meat and the dog will salivate so the neutral stimulus has become conditioned. You can use it to wipe your butt, start a fire. Acquisition of classical conditioning requires repeated pairing of conditioned stimulus and unconditioned stimulus. Ivan pavlov experiment the more you ring, the less salivation there is. When the dog stops salivating, it means that the classical conditioning has gone extinct. If you present the conditioned stimulus alone too many times, the classical conditioning associating extinguishes.
