Memory is a story- we fill in the holes/blanks" by what"s suggested to us or what"s normal. Memory is the process by which we observe, store, and recall information: one can have visual memory, auditory memory, or tactile memory, memory processes may involve multiple systems, conscious, automatic, encoding- taking info in. Memory goes where attention flows shows how memory and emotion are correlated: ex. Spotlight analogy most of it is disregarded (colour of prof"s shirt). This is because consciousness chooses what we pay attention to. It takes 300milliseconds to recognize a face etc. (cognitive schemas- rules that we create in our brains about how world works- mostly our experiences: ex. Making things up when you believe you"re not doing so. attention to some things that don"t matter: ex. the colour of prof"s shirt.
