Psy100 lab 8: sniffy the virtual rat (operant conditioning) The dependent variable is the bar pressing (which is divided by time in mins) Sniffy"s behaviour is going to be shaped through the pose test. Sniffy is a hungry rat so that you can classical conditioning her well. Every time she presses the lever, she"ll always get food unless the food is extinguished. She"s always going to get a piece of food. Rate of bar presses is calculated by number of time presses divided by time. Magazine training; turning the food delivery sound into a secondary reinforcer. Magazine training is classically conditioning sniffy by giving her a piece of cheese. The primary reinforcer is food and the secondary reinforce is the food. Criteria #1; the sound food bar gets to 75% (indicated by the 3rd tick bar) After she eats the cheese, keep giving it to her until she gets used to it. You must classically condition sniffy to the tone.
