Document Summary
Validity is when a test actually measures what we are say it"s measuring. Correlational studies investigate how much 2 variables tent to go together". We will use a correlational study to validate a new measure of self-esteem: 1. Split-half correlation half question at random, compared to the other half at random: 2. Give your new survey to everyone in sample. Send everyone to 10 hours of therapy with a qualified therapist. Calculate a correlation between the two ranging from -1 to +1. Q: what is the difference between an experiment and a correlation. The two sets of the sorenson will correlate with each other. People who obtain high scores on the sorensen self-esteem questionnaire will report lower scores on the rosenberg self-esteem scale. Make sure the questions have equal impact. All items should measure the same thing. If the new survey does a good job measuring self-esteem then it should correlate with rosenberg"s survey that we already knew measure self-esteem.
