Advantageous: female with stroke affects language centers more likely to recover from speech abilities than males. Boys tend to be better at gross-motor skills: rolling over, sitting (using arm muscles, legs, torso, feet) Girls tend to be better at fine motor skills: small movements such as picking up objects (using finger muscles, toes, wrists, lips, and tongue) Men: better at manipulating objects, constructing 3-d forms, mentally mapping complex figures. Women: tend to write and speak earlier-superior verbal abilities in early school years social differences in the way we speak to girls vs. boys: social differences. Men tend to use more direct forms of aggression, females more indirect. Girls more compliant to demands of parents and other adults, boys are more variable: gender roles.
