Selectivity focus on specific individuals: limited number of individuals. Knowing that if something specific happens they can estimate/ know what will happen next based on past experiences with a similar situation. Child develops this iwm about behaviours with different people. If they know that they can cry/ throw a tantrum to get what they want with mom, they will do this when they want something: the ability to predict and interpret other people"s behaviour and appropriately plan responses. Internal working models (characteristics: exist outside of consciousness. Shaped by outcomes of infant"s proximity seeking experiences. Individual differences exist based upon outcomes of proximity seeking behaviour during infancy. Uncertainty about whether or not the mother will come back. Characteristics: varies to a certain extent by culture, may be influenced by child"s temperament, may be according to adult whom child is attached. For the most part type of attachment is stable over time.
