Abnormal behaviour is behaviour that deviates form the statistically normal (or average) You want to gather data, empirically measure it, and find an average. Ex: how do we measure how happy you are: the only way to do this in psychology is through self-report via questionnaires. o. The most common way of measuring depression is through the bbck. It is about 20 questions, and from a scale of 1 to 10, you select a way that pertains to you. On dsm, they have included common behaviours that are unfavourable, and excluded abnormal behaviour that are favourable, but included normal behaviours that are unfavourable . Violence towards another person is considered abnormal. There are other factors that occurs that may override statistical: persistence and age of onset.
