There is no cure for dementia, it does not go away, and progresses further. These disorders are not exclusive to older age and can also occur in younger people but it is not common. Disoriented not in touch with reality. There are lucid periods they are in touch with reality but only for a certain periods throughout the day (difference from dementia) Normal temperature around 98. 6 (f), fever is above 100. Dangerous fever over 104 (f) can induce delirium. Over 105 (f) can result in the brain to shut down. Also depends on the type of infection: diabetes. D1 is inherited (genetic), d2 is acquired (problem with insulin and sugar) When diabetes is not monitored it can cause delirium: organ failure (kidneys, liver, stoke. Damage caused to the brain is irreversible from having a stroke. Treatment: note: most often reversible, can be resolved in about 1-4 weeks. Adaptive functioning deteriorates (knowing basic skills like taking the bus and grooming yourself)
