It is difficult to provide education in the least restrictive environment. Accommodation for culture and lre is almost impossible. We must consider religious, culture, and ethnic issues when developing ieps. If you are a grade 1 teacher with 30 kids, 5 kids may be on ieps, with varying disabilities of varying severities: as well, they may come with different cultures and ethnicities. In the iep, the teacher must accommodate for the differences. Don"t need to memorize the whole chart. Must work with the child at instructional level, which must be based on his/her cognitive level not proficiency level. Even if the visions are placed in the iep, they may not happen. In ontario students who receive esl, they do not qualify for special education services. These reccommendations are usually not done because they are really difficult. Child didn"t chose to come to the country, their parents came here as refugees and were lucky to come here.
