Document Summary

Fear is our perception; we don"t like being afraid; we"re afraid of being afraid. A great deal of stress is how we imagine or believe things to turn out; not usually what happens that causes the stress but our mindset. Amygdala tends to air on the side of caution. Cerebral cortex directly affects the hypothalamus. One of the contributing factors to heart disease is chronic stress. Cortisol helps in healing, helps bring body back to homeostasis. In case of most stress that ppl encounter acute stressors have evolved to being adaptive to our system. Hpa system can be active for long prds of time; like poison to the body. Don"t want to have that much cortisol in our body; its not good for us. It suppresses cellular immune functioning because we"re using energy towards flight/fight response where its not applicable. Atherosclerosis: plaque building in the lines of the arteries leads to clots.
