04/02/2014: we are talking about changing the levels of co2 in the atmosphere, the carbon cycle we are talking about how it moves throughout the atmosphere, one important sink is the oceans the oceans are like a sponge for co2, it takes a while for them to absorb it but they do absorb most of it, when they do this, it citifies the ocean, another potential sink is the forest the co2 can be locked into the plants, one source which puts co2 in the atmosphere are volcanoes, a small source of carbon dioxide are animals, the one that were are really concerned about is combustion (burning oil, vegetation, etc. , greenhouse effect, it acts like a thermal blanket the most heat is retained, the lower the co2 the cooler it is, incoming solar radiation, and then its reflected (bounces light into space, carbon dioxide (co2) temperature is liked (99% certainty)
