Document Summary
Most behavioural characteristics are polygenis: many genes involved. Because of the complexity their can"t be distinct categories at the phenotypic level instead we use a continuum. Sitter: waits for food to come to it: two distinct phenotypic (behavioural) traits. Used recombination, identified markers, looked at different phenotypes and how they segregate to find location of and identify the gene responsible to rover/sitter foraging behaviour. Higher density of larvae - rover preffered. Lower density of larvae - sitter preffered. Cuckoos lay their eggs in other birds nests so they don"t have to build a nest and work to find food for their babies. We eat sugar because it tastes good (has a high energy content: why do we like it b/c releases hormones in our body to make us feel that way.
