Document Summary

Book under review: the wealth and poverty of nations: why some are so rich and some so. The wealth and poverty of nations: why some are so rich and some so. As discussed in the course material, there has been ongoing discourse on environment and its effects on the development and advancement of civilizations. As an example, the oil fields in the gulf countries have greatly contributed to their financial success and prosperity. I would like to read this book and try to understand the author s point of view on this topic. Does he/she argue for or against the viewpoint that geographical factors play a role in the economic prosperity of nations. I am primarily interested in this topic as i was born in a developing nation, and frequent visits back home never fail to remind me of the great financial disparity between canada and my home country.
