within non Jews.
Non Jewish type of Christianity. HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?
➢ Number of structured development, that made this new belief possible and
successful. Development, organization that made Christianity attract Constantine,
the Roman Emperor.
➢ This is how it penetrated the Roman Empire
➢ It spread in the Roman world because the Roman world was hostile to Jewish law.
➢ The Jewish diaspora was quite significant, but Christians still managed to spread their
message widely.
*Gentiles (non Jews) know about Judaism.
*Jewish texts translated into Greek.
*Connections to Jewish world.
*Associated with worship of one God.
*Paul attempted to offer non Jews a connection to his ONE God without being Jewish. God
of Israel, New faith of Salvation history. These people could connect with this new faith.
➢ Preach the message of Salvation was essential. It was drawn into the Jewish element.
The Christ figure moves beyond the Messiah. Salvation preached to non Jews. Mainstream
Christian Church: The Christ = fully part of God.
The progressio is that Jesus is o loger a siple preaher, teaher, …
→ Dramatic interruption of human History. Not just prophet but God himself had made an
appearance on the earth. A lot more was at stake. Jesus was being associated with God, and
the Salvation was at the center of the narrative.
→ The massive narrative goes from narration, salvation: the path. Christ was being placed at
the center of the story. It was attractive to the converts.
*Convictions about salvation were under the process of development.
→ The Bible WAS A PROCESS OF DEVELOPMENT.
