All the little things we did like learning piano, archery, is related to our socioeconomic status. We generally like to believe that we made our own choices. But what research shows is that all those choices are constraint and restricted by our family background. Our social class is a kind of structure over us and it is largely earned by the generation before us. Stratification and inequality: social inequality: idea that there are different rungs on a ladder, some are at the top or middle or bottom, stratification: way society is organized in layers or strata. A society(cid:495)s hierarchical ranking of people into social classes. How this affects people(cid:495)s lives stratification: about how your life would look very different depending on where you are on that ladder.
