Document Summary
Max weber: looked at karl marx"s work that had been done previously, and he was critical on marx"s work, thought his thinking was simplistic and too focused on the economy. * there are more than just two classes (what about middle class, etc. ), this is too narrow of an opinion. * weber critiqued the focus of marx"s work. Society is created, recreated, and modi ed continuously by human society. How we act and interact matters (and these are just as important as macrosociology), human behaviour and how we shape the social world. Symbolic interaction it"s begin with the individual. Interactionism (in terms of symbols): we share those meanings, uncover those meanings, through interaction. * clothing for example: carries meaning, is symbolic (demonstrate meaning of who we are, if someone is wearing a band tee, you would make an assumption that they like that band)
