Informs about social structures, behaviours, culture, etc: dispels myths or confirms what you know, challenges the way you think. Sociological perspective: questioning what we take for granted (looking for the strange in the familiar) Linking individuals to social structures: micro: interpersonal connections, macro: economy, marriage, education, social class, micro can effect macro and vice versa (people can change the society or the society can trap people)
