Suicide is illegal, deviant (illegal b/c breaches moral order) Highest rates of suicide occur within the group of gay males. Reason said to be bullying; actually is homophobia. Increases in suicides --> b/c unemployment among the middle class (ppl who didn"t expect it) Concerned not about morality but rather the structure of issues. Looks primarily at social structure, consensus, order at all times. Much stronger sense of social control vs. durkheim who said their should be some balance. Social order reflected in law (reflections of what we all accept, normative values) See multiculturalism as a problem b/c too much diversity makes it hard to have consensus in law. In actuality law reflects a single version. Criminals should be severely punished b/c they do know what right vs wrong b/c grew up learning it.
