Creating new organizations: social structures created by individuals to support the collaborative pursuit of specified goals. Insurance, government, non-governmental, corporations, profit and nonprofit, university, school, family, work. Organizations: lobbyists have more power compared to like a person. Some overlap universities culture, research, services, socialization, communication, recreation, discovery. Organizations tend to be durable so designed to persist overtime. Expected to have endurance, ability and longevity: reliability. Org good at doing same thing multiple times and lots of formalizations. Like an hr manual, authority rules routines, strong culture within the organization. Increases the reliability of the work being performed: accountability. Behaviour happens within a framework so hr manual, rules, guidelines, records that provide justification for decisions and activities. Also hierarchy meant to ensure rules are being followed. Do things together that we cannot do actively. Achieve goals we could not achieve alone: collective actors. Organizations have rights people so seen as persons under the law.
